  • The breaking masts are awesome, especially when the ships are close enough to make ad hoc bridges. I've noticed the grenade makes the default metal clink sound. Shouldn't it be a more woodesh WHACK when coming into contact with the enemy deck?

Nurdbot: The metal sound was because, quite honestly, we tried a few wood sounds and they sounded out of place. More-so than the metal sound. Also, most weren't as short as the default grenade sound and got A)Annoying B)Messed up at the final few bounces. If you have a good sound then by all means send it through and we'll see, but until then the metal sound remains. Gareth: Depends on the server. There is a map-restart system for every 5 round, however it does tend to lag on the 3rd and 4th, or after long rounds. Still, it's better than gmod9's lag, and tends to be lessened by the map restart. GarretTT: Hmm. What type of models were you thinking of porting specifically? If they are better than our current models and you get permission it would be great, but send links to pics of them first. EDIT: Collars, I've sent you a PM but thought I might as well post too. My computer doesn't do HDR in gmod (works fine in CS:S, HL2, DOD, and every other source game which is puzzling) so the graphics I'm filming aren't as good. With all the pirate music and whatnot it still isn't bad, but parts of your footage look much better. I was wondering if I could use some of your clips in the final promo video? (With credit of course)

There are a number of wreckage models, buildings, and other things I had quickly ported. I still need to rework the collision for any of it to be useful though. Also, there are a number of characters and weapons, but they would need to be heavily reworked as far as I know. Here are some samples of what you might find useful. Really, the models that would be good to have are: [list]New Player Models[/list] [list]Spyglass Model+view model (bring up to eye, etc)[/list] [list]Lantern Model[/list] [list]Ship hull, mast, prow, and rudder models[/list] Seriously, if we had those last ones this could be map independent. I don't want to use vmf suite for this unless it's required.

  • Panzer, it's in my first post. Silirion, that pirate ship looks... small. Like for RTS games. I don't have a modeling program to actually open it with, but by the polygon count it seems like it's a miniature. (Please prove me wrong, having a full model would be great)

  • I can get everything ported on your list, but someone else should set the player model up. I have no experience with that in my 7 years of modding. As for the ship itself, with proper modeling and entity work, we could setup a dynamic damage system. A while back, I worked on a little project with the source SDK using the design document from my maritime mod idea. Basically, there were hit boxes on the entity to detect which part was being hit. The entity itself was made of a series of models rendered as one; the models would be changed when the corresponding hit box was struck. That was done through C++ but I'm sure something similar (and much less time consuming) could be accomplished with lua. A fully dynamic system could only be accomplished with source's original system, which I don't believe could run on most computers. In short, if you’re interested in reworking the ships, I could help.

  • Sillirion: The scope would need new textures, but it looks ok. We've got a steering wheel inprogress by RedMag. And you yourself gave us a cannon model that we're currently using! :D GarretTT: Random Q, what program do you use? Anyway, the ship reworking sounds good. Though what exactly was done in C++? We can detect hitboxes from lua but I'm not sure about model destruction/modification.

  • Guys tomorrow Halo 3 comes out and my friends and I are Halo junkies so I won't be here. Also the day after I'm going on a 3 day team building trip for my school. The worst part is I got detention for not standing during the pledge of allegiance with 5 other people (apparently they think we want death to America or something)
