  • I might fix up the model a little bit and maybe give it a better skin. The model is good, but I think it could use a better collision model and maybe some subdivision around the front.

  • After playing with this I have found that I like the MD-500 better. This heli seems too mechanical, like it's being hung there by a gantry or something. The lift system is VERY unrealistic; I think you are under the impression that a helicopter gets lift by increasing the RPM of the blades, in actuality the pitch of the blades change to create lift. Because of this, I've found it IMPOSSIBLE to hover, I'm either shooting at mach 5 in the air, or crashing into the ground. And all the front needs is some smoothing groups.

[/QUOTE] If you tap the up control untill the Heli begins to take off and tap the down when nessisary you will achieve a balenced flight. and the issue with the Heli seeming as though the RPM of the blades is increasing to gain lift will be fixed in due time :D

  • i think you need to make a second copy of this with two side guns for two more players to use and make it more easy for team battles

  • I agree. Soften up the physics - hopefully someone around here knows how to really code that kind of stuff and will help you. The gun has a lot of potential, just needs a little work. One thing I think would be sweet, though, is if you made the cabin so you could have people riding along inside (freely, not in seats) while you are flying around. I know you can currently go inside the chopper, but if you try to take off with your buddies in the back, they fall straight through the bottom of the model. Just think if you could be able to deposit and extract troops in a tight situation! It's always a hassle to weld a ton of seats into it in-game and you can't shoot your weapon if you do get into one. To make all of this possible, wouldn't it just be some collision manipulation?

  • the real best way to do it is to make a heli seat ent that when used parents the player to it at a specified position , then on intitial spawn of the heli create and parent 2 or more of those seats....

  • if you go to make a v2 can you make it so if you move it to close to awall the blades will get ripped off? also see that red can at the front of the chopper can you replace it was the airboat gun too.

  • Ya, Jabba's got a good point. The Huey should have a damage system similar to that of the loach heli, with the blades popping off, fire/smoke, etc. It'd be better if obstructing the blades disabled/destroyed the chopper, so that it wouldn't get caught against walls or flip over and still be operational. Nice to know it's coming along... keep up the good work!

  • I just noticed something, your artificial horizon is inverted, if you tilt the helo nose down, it instead shows it as nose up, thought you'd like to know if it hasn't been fixed already

Anyway, looks good, already have and like AVehicles. It's a good addon(puddle jumper? Yes please!) Edit: Damn stupid controls for the other one?*dies* Then again, I'm the kind of person who doesn't think the Crysis helicopter controls suck.

  • Finally got some work done. I made the engine physics a bit better with smoother controls. Check out the latest AVehicle SVN and the latest huey svn.

  • I have a few requests <3: -Better model (it looks seriously low-res and a bit crook-ed :S) -Combine Helicopter and maybe stick a rotor onto the EP2 chopper? (Oh FYI if you use Model Manipulator with the Combine Chopper and the Huey the Combine Chopper's rotors will rotate, in case you didn't know :smile:) -If I tilt forward say even 5 degrees, I would like it to move faster than 5 metres an hour, I actually have to go at least 80 degrees downwards to get a huge speed difference, but even then it looks ass. Is there any way you can make it thrust forward a bit more? Also, ability to switch the Camera view on and off would be nice. Should be binded to C. So basically; WS - Tilt Forward/Backward AD - Turn right/left QE - Tilt right/left R - Start engine (this is bugged, the engine will half the time keep spinning but not activate the rotors D:) V - Change View M - Mouse Control (is a bit retarded controlling btw) N - Missile Launcher (this is actually in the current version fyi people who don't know) New: C - View Disable/Enable B - Hover Mode (this should rotate the helicopter so it is 0 degrees and is stopped in it's place, this should take at least 5 seconds to re-tilt, stop, and rotate the chopper so it stays still as if it was frozen, T - No Weapon/Rocket Launcher/Machine Gun (toggle weapons, so No Weapon would show no weapon model and wouldn't fire anything, Rocket Launcher would be a generic model, and MG would be the Airboat gun?) Better texturing on the Huey would be lov-e-ly. Military style/Grey and a Medical huey <3 I'm asking alot maybe, but yes :l Chinook?

  • I just got done testing it. Pretty nifty. One thnig, tho. I tried ti lift a fairly heavy contraption with it, only to cause it to fall onto it's side and crash......the entire game. No lua errors, no nothing. Don't know if it means much, it isn't much to go on, but I felt you should know.

  • A better model would be nifty, and a few more helicopters would be also very sweet. You could add an emergancy helicopter (those huge sea kings we got 'ere in good old Britain) with multiple seats, and a Chinook that has multiple seats too. I wish the doors where closeable. If only Shift did that. Are you going to make the chopper go forward when it's just slightly tilted still? Sakarias88 you're avatar makes me think your post was a "Just use mine ya fag." kind of post. Dah, Thanks for the agree. In return I shall rate myself Agree too.
