• Torrent - Flood remake

[B]Torrent is currently a work in progress. It's going to be released for free on Github upon completion. After completion it will be updated and changed when and where it needs to be.[/B] Torrent is gamemode currently being developed by me, it's designed to slightly modify the concept of flood and completely change everything else. [B]The concept behind Torrent[/B] Torrent is round based, every round contains 4 states that last for a configured amount of time. The first state is the build state, by default this lasts 6 minutes. In this time you you build a boat out of props from the spawn menu, In theory this boat should float when it needs to and support the weight of it's owner. Each prop costs a certain amount of money, certain props cost more and have more health. The second state is the mount state, this is a short period that players are given to get on top of their boats, all forms of building during this time have been disabled. The third state is the fight state, at the start of fight state the water will raise leaving nothing but floating boats as a means of flotation. During this period, players in the water will be dealt 4 points of damage for every second that they are in the water. Respawning is disabled during this period. The fourth and final state is restart state, this state occurs when fight state has finished or there's only one player left alive, during this period, the water is lowered and the map is reset to cater for the build state. The build state comes after this, it will cycle like this for as long as your server is up and has more than one player on it. [B]How do you 'win' a round[/B] During the fight state you use weapons to to cause damage to other's boats, attempting to sink their boats by breaking props used to keep them out of the water. If you're the only player left alive you win that round. [B]How do you 'lose' a round[/B] If you die during the fight state, you lose that round. [B]How do I get and use money?[/B] Money is awarded for damaging other's props and winning rounds. Money can be spent on better weapons, ammo, special entities and props. If a player has less than by default 3000 at the start of the build state, their money will be set to 3000 so that they stand a chance later in the round. When I saw the word "Torrent", the first things that came to my mind were the downloadable torrents through uTorrent or BitTorrent
Call it Torrential instead.
Honestly, I don't like the HUD. If you want any help with the gamemode just send me a PM through here though.
Format them numbers on the HUD there for your money. I know I sure like my commas.

Wow, a use for torrents that isn't related to porn - neat! But on topic though, I like the HUD.

This looks really awesome. I've been wanting to start my own project for a flood mod remake for a while, but seeing as you're already on it there's very little point. I don't have much free time but I would be very interested in helping you out with developing this gamemode. I am very experienced in garrysmod lua. If you want a sample of my work check out modular-roleplay.googlecode.com one of my previous gamemodes. Let me know if your interested / contact me on steam or face punch. (steam name is thelastpenguin aswell. ) was just looking at your videos and I really like the way you've done the HUD etc. Though the design for the prop selection system is a bit questionable... something a bit more compact and easier to look through may be nice (though its hard to really tell how its being controlled etc from the video. ) Also not entirely sure why people aren't liking the HUD. It's possible that it's just a mater of preference but I think it looks very nice, making it a bit shorter and more compact would be my only suggestion but other than that I think it looks beautiful. I would be glad to help with improvements to it or any other systems that need work.
Just an idea, why dont you make funds trickle in while you're alive during the fight round? Maybe only 3 for every 5 seconds or something but that would probably help make things easier on new players into an established game.

Additionally I don't want to support camping.
How is progress on this going?
