  • so i start up gmod and in the read me it says to go to extentions and check off the boxes right? well when i start up my gmod and go to extentions it only has TF2 and CS:S (wich are the games i already have) [editline]07:49PM[/editline] whats chrisasters fix? and my problem is the same as this one gm|SPY posted: hmmm, i have to computers with gmod installed and l4d2 they both have gm_mount2 and everything works fine, that is until gmod updated then suddenly gm_mount2 has no effect at all, not a trace of it on either computer, and YES it is installed!!! whats wrong!!?!?!?!??
  • @kooliu: you are posting really confusing. Just update to the latest version. And for the future: if you got a problem with a certain sort of software, try finding an update.

  • Still wonder when we're gonna be able to mount The Ship content by only having the Dedicated Server, because this game is dead now and isn't getting anymore updates because it's finished. I also hope, alien swarm gives me access to the new source sdk because I heard, it's file system interface supports vpk natively.if this all works with gmod together, your can expect mount2 coming to linux dedicated servers and maybe to mac, once someone compiles it for that. I'm working on a solution but not really quickly since I have to work and learn for exams. Also: Some models (alien models/ragdolls) crash GMod. That's why you need to manually enable this support.

If one for example wants Louis to stand somewhere (Not rigged, L4D bones and animations) it will cause the engine to lag or crash because the L4D styled animations are so advanced making The Orange Box to not be able to handle it so the engine just goes dying
  • I played a bit around with the textures used in Alien Swarm. I changed the headers of their VTF Version 7.5 to a compatible 7.2 (the one GMod is mainly using) but it failed. Seems like it's not the header but the data attached which causes GMod not to load the texture. (Btw: I used photoshop and Nemesis VTFLib to load the modified vtf and it did fail. If VTFLib can't handle it, GMod can't too).
  • How would you work this in a dedicated server? There is not a good way to do it conventionally (ie I had to copy game files, not just use GCFs; This was a hastle, and there had to be a better way, right?).
  • I do believe the 7.5 textures is what's causing the crashing because Orange Box only supports v7 to 7.4 VTFs, it's not only the animations fault. But I still need to see a gm_mount2 dedicated server tutorial in VIDEO form
  • What's so hard for installing it on a dedicated server? Everything you need to know is in the "Readme dedicated server.txt" - And that's only for describing how to mount content which is "irregular" like L4D1/2. I assume you know how to setup a dedicated server and how to install games like HL2,EP2,EP1 etc into it. Then you just need to handle some games with a special treatment: Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 2. That's what the "Readme dedicated server.txt" is there for. If you follow these rules, you will have a dedicated server with mount2 running.

Worked for me at least, I wouldn't mind updating the spawnlists models if these things hexed get into the Mount2 pack just like the fixed VMTs for the infected etc.
