• I would just like to let everyone know that work is still being done on ZW, so just hang in there for those of you who enjoy or are interested in this gamemode. I made some changes to the twitch system and work is being done on the new SNPCs to replace the old zombies. For some reason, the code I wrote for the SNPC hasn't work until the official release of Garry's Mod 13 (not beta), but it worked in an older version of Garry's Mod 13 Beta. It was weird, but it works now and that's the important thing. My laptop crashed and I lost almost everything, but luckily I got my new desktop (Really fast btw) and everything for ZW was retrieved. So everything is great and I expect to have some stuff done by the next few weeks. I will probably make a video for ZW soon now that I figured out how to use the new demo system. I'm not sure if webm encoded videos used by anything, but I think I can figure it out. My ZW server is currently down. I'll try to get it back up soon as well. Cheers for Garry's Mod 13!!!!
• If you have need any help testing please let me know, I need a zombie wave gamemode on my server! This one looks the most promising!

• For ZW beta I have my own make-shift server (which isn't currently up) which works good and serves well for any tests I may have. I could probably release a working copy after I have the weapons finished. So far I have two custom weapons ported from COD4. They're decent but maybe I should make weapons up to server owners. Things may get complicated there but it will be worth it in the end.
• Definitely. I know as a fact that I can not map too great and I know I lack the patience required for this kind of work. It would be a big help to have someone chip in on this. If your interested, then you can go right ahead and make something cool. I'm not really looking for anything in particular. It just needs to look eerie like the maps in Left 4 Dead or even like in Half-Life 2. Have concealed locations for zombies to spawn and make them player inaccessible. Unlike in Half-Life 2 there needs to be less props including some static props. Make sure they don't give players unfair advantages like a trashcan that a zombie can't get on and have them taped off with player clip. Another important note would be to NOT have working ladders so players can't hide from zombies. And lastly make sure you have a good spawn location that is zombie inaccessible with npc clip and have it blend in with the environment so it looks natural like a back alley. Don't worry too much about the info targets for zombie spawn points and a store spawn point. But most importantly really make it your own and make sure you like it. If you don't decide to back down, please post any progress you make here. Thank you.
• I'd like to take a stab at maybe making some maps for it, but just a few questions. 1. Is zombie spawning coded in lua or do the mappers have to make some? 2. Is there an fdg for certain gamemode entities? 3. About how big do you want the map?

And yes there is some work that needs to be done on the map for the zombie spawning. It's very simple though and no fgd required. I have a very basic set up in the code that grabs any info target with the proper names and uses that as a reference for whatever. For the zombie spawn points place an info_target on the ground with the name "Zombie_Spawn" (only whats between the quotes). It's as simple as that. And for the store or even multiple stores use "Store_Spot" (not including the quotes as well). The problem with the store is that it will only face the direction that would be considered the front in hammer. I could easily fix this though. As far as the map size, you could go as large as you want but just try to have it filled with buildings, foliage, etc.. Maybe some open fields but that's up to you.

•
forgot to ask, do we need nodes?
Oh yes, that's something very important to include with all the ai. The zombies can be very stupid without good nodes so please do include them.
• Zombie Waves is now back online! Sure my server that I host myself on an old Linux machine 24/7 sucks, but I think it's a good way to have people test it out. Just look for Zombie Waves in Garry's Mod under servers and it should be there. Try to limit players to a max of 4/8, otherwise don't complain of excessive lag. If there is allot of lag than just type !reset in chat. If you've tried it out please drop a comment. And don't comment about things I already know such as the server's lag. If you have any ideas please do share them. Anything that can improve ZW is good. Mappers are still needed. Why can't I just make the maps myself? Because I'm not that good at mapping. I already know my place in this project and that's the coding and organization. You have to remember this a one man team working here. Think of this as an opportunity to show off your mapping skills and increase your reputation. What else can you do to help? I could use modelers, texture artists, and even a sound/music guy. If you see something you can improve in ZW, then go give it a shot and show us what you can do.
•
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1209676 This hud would be more interesting, obviously you would have to take out the text for the upper corners and change some shit around but it seems better than the one you're using. Tested out myself, it's really customizable to fit to any gamemode.
Ha! That was made by Kopimi i think for Morbus
• Oh that HUD... uh... I'ma recommend you rework that or ask someone else to design a better one. Other than that, everything looks good.
• What do you think is wrong with the HUD? Low resolution? The overall design? I think it looks good in-game.
