• Props to Little Nemo for making this video A video of the new Classic Mode. This is a convar which disables class switching, disables hammer and nail barricading, makes undead players in to a special Classic Zombie class, and makes the game much faster paced than normal. I have recently decided to release the current version of Zombie Survival as well put up a GIT that will be kept updated. This is the full version I've been hosting for the last 2-3 years, minus whatever noxiousnet gimmicks that were in use like emotes, hats and that kind of stuff. NoXiousNet will continue to run and this version will receive the updates once they're tested enough on there. Countless additions, updates, changes, removals, etc. have gone in to this and it is nothing like the last version that was released roughly 3 years ago. Release GIT (more up to date): https://github.com/JetBoom/zombiesurvival Steam Workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=105462463 Community Wiki http://heavy.noxiousnet.com/wiki/index.php?title=Zombie_Survival Zombie Survival? What's that about? If you have to ask then you must have been living under a rock but I'll go through the basics for you. You kill zombies! If you die then you turn in to a zombie (usually right on the spot so your former team members have to put you down). There are no NPC zombies. Humans get various tools such as barricading equipment, turrets, medical kits, and more. Damaging zombies will give you points. You can use these points with the arsenal crate deployable (you must select it when the round starts). The deployer also gets some points when people exchange points through their crate. You can purchase ammo, new weapons, new tools, and an assortment of other devices to make your life somewhat easier. Once you're a zombie you can kill 4 humans to redeem. This will respawn you as a human with a basic loadout. There are an assortment of different zombie classes with their own special abilities. More classes get unlocked as the game progresses. The game will end if there are no more remaining humans or the last wave is over with at least one remaining human. The map maker can also specify custom winning conditions. It might sound really simple but the gamemode is gigantic compared to most. It will be getting some pretty cool new things soon such as a rudimentary inventory and crafting system. Out of the box, Zombie Survival is designed to be played with roughly 16 - 50 people and humans win about 5% of the time, depending on the map and players. Keep this in mind before you start up a server. I already know all this, what's new with this version compared to the one I have from 2009? A lot is. Here is the most obvious stuff though: * It actually works and is supported. * Points are distributed by damage instead of kills and assists. * Barricading system revamp. * Ability to very slowly phase through barricades as a human (Press Z by default). * New zombies, new weapons, new tools, just tons more content. * Integrated system for changing maps. Don't have to setup a map list anymore. * Tons of console variables and client options for fine-tuning the game without actually editing it. * An ass load of new mapping entities, outputs for existing entities, and other things make it easier to create intricate new maps. A whole bunch of massive, impressive objective-based maps have been created already. Best of all, you get to play them on your own server now. * Dynamic spawning. Zombies are now able to spawn on top of other zombies that are out of view of humans. This makes it much easier to get back to the humans while you're a zombie and allows particularly large maps to still be played. * Polished. I still have to redo a few things but it looks and behaves a lot better. If you were running a custom version of the old ZS, you will definitely need to rewrite whatever changes or additions you made. The gamemode has been almost completely rewritten. Servers running this 67.212.184.66:27015 - noxiousnet.com official server. (US - East/Central) Where do I get maps for this? Zombie Survival will adapt to whatever map you feed it. Obviously the best choice is zs_ maps but will also run great with zm_ (CS:S), de_, cs_, tdm_, etc. There have been maybe 200+ maps created for ZS already so feel free to look for them. You can also download some directly from noxiousnet although you should check the date they were uploaded as some may not actually be used any more. http://heavy.noxiousnet.com/downloadurl/maps Mapping information An FDG file is included in the gamemode folder. There is also more detailed information here: http://www.noxiousnet.com/forums/index.php?topic=2373.0 FAQ Most of this can be found in the F1 menu but I'll go ahead and put some of the most asked questions here: Q: Why do guns reload instantly or freeze in mid-air? A: You need to have CS:S installed properly on the server. The cstrike folder needs to be copied from srcds/css/ to srcds/orangebox/ after you run the update tool. Q: How do I change zombie? A: F3 Q: How do you ghost through props? A: Either your undo key or your walk key. This only works on barricade props. Q: How do you lay down as a zombie (feign death)? A: Sprint key (shift). Q: How do you burrow as a head crab? A: Reload (R). Only works on soft ground such as dirt and sand. Q: How do you remove nails? A: Reload with a hammer while pointing at the nail. You will be penalized for removing nails you don't own. If the owner of the nail is nearby then the nail will return to their inventory instead of yours. Q: How do you buy guns? A: Press USE on an arsenal crate. If there is no crate then you can't buy anything so make sure someone picks it up. If absolutely no one picks one up then one will spawn in a random human spawn point. Q: How do you become a boss zombie? A: The zombie with the highest damage to humans will become the boss. Up to three bosses can be spawned at once. Q: What is Classic Mode? A: A convar. Turning it on will disable all regular zombie classes, disable all boss zombies, disable barricading with the hammer, and make waves shorter but add more of them. It is a homage to Zombie Survival of old and makes the game much faster paced.

• I <3 Noxious Net servers. It's the only servers where I can barricade up in a room against scary zombies, and fap to animated sprays of bestiality at the same time. 2 in 1, what more could you ask for.
• http://www.noxiousnet.com/forums/index.php?topic=15418.0 We've been coming up with various recipes. Suggest some and I just might put it in. Doesn't have to make sense and can be useless.

• I cant seem to get the svn link to work when using TortoiseSVN. I create a folder called zombiesurvival Enter svn://noxiousnet.com/public/zombiesurvival as the checkout address Enter anonsvn as both username and password and tick the remember info box. However Tortoise keeps on asking for the username and password over and over again. Using Windows 7 x64 with TortoiseSVN x64 (used it for a while so I am sure I have not done something wrong) and my other SVN checkouts are ok. So is there so sort of problem with the SVN link? Or is it "Just me" once again?
• My mistake, it's actually svn://noxiousnet.com/trunk/public/zombiesurvival No username or password needed.

• Though, I probably won't be hosting this. I appreciate you for releasing the gamemode. Maybe people will stop hosting DarkRP and host this.

• What do you mean "hopefully it would have been worth the weight"? Do you mean that while making this gamemode you gained a large amount of weight and you are questioning whether it was worth gaining the weight to make this gamemode?

• Jetboom, first of all thanks for this wonderful gamemode. Now to my problem, I own the server "The Gamesketch Network" ( gamesketch.net is the ip ) I have some bugs in the gamemode and I'm quite sure i did install everything correctly. 1. For some reason the healthbar logo's of headcrab are mixed up with the crow, if you play a headcrab you see the health-bar logo of the crow and the other way around too. ( same problem with fast headcrab ) 2. Animation of fast headcrab and fast zombie are kind of broken too. It might be a problem on my server though. Notice: Im using the linux version which is known to be buggy ( vphysics.so )
• Probably linux stuff but 1. Does using the headcrab give you black and white screen? 2. lua_run PrintTable(GAMEMODE.ZombieClasses) and copy paste the output.

Check it out yourself its difficult to explain. ^^ Join the server IP: gamesketch.net:27015 or 62.141.42.77:27015 Console Output of lua_run command: http://pastebin.com/TXPUc8JK ( commented the description of the classes out. should be easyer fo you to read the text... Edit: Jetboom you may want to contact me on skype or via email. nexitem@chello.at ( nexitem is my account on steam too ) I wont spamm you with stupid questions, I'm more the serious guy. Thanks.
• Weird issue, CSS items seem bugged. I've installed CSS (also tried taking the cstrike folder up a level, yet with no luck.
• You need to have CS:S installed on the server. nexitem I think it has to do with the way nix and Mac sort file.Find (they don't). I've committed a change to sh_zombieclasses.lua that should fix it. Confirm?

•
What do you mean bugged?
For example any CSS items, the client has slight drawback when walking through a CSS prop (Client thinks its there but server doesn't render it). Also CSS weapons reload instantly acting as if CSS was not installed. I've had this problems plenty of times before, however either checking CSS with ./steam -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir . usually fixes it. Sometimes I have to move the "cstrike" folder up to srcds/orangebox and it fixes it, however no luck.
• Installed a clean copy, and noticed a few things. If you kill a headcrab you get this error with no kill (Crow symbol for zombie player): [zombiesurvival\gamemode\zombieclasses\crow.lua:103] attempt to perform arithmetic on field 'CrowKills' (a nil value)
• Update to the latest svn version. If you're hosting with linux then that should fix it.

Thank you. Jetboom, Add my server to the list running it: "The Gamesketch Network" gamesketch.net:27015 or 62.141.42.77:27015 ( EUROPE, English )
• Thanks Jetboom, if you want you can add us too :) "Velox-Gaming.com | Zombie Survival" 94.23.5.200:27016 UK The CSS problem was that the Cstrike folder had to be moved to the orangebox folder. Edit: Health doesn't seem to work either, you buy it and it does nothing. Edit2: also what's this mapeditor?

• Thanks for releasing the gamemode :) "[DynamicEffect.net] Zombie Survival" dynamiceffect.net:27015 (Europe/Sweden) Also there seems to be a bug with random map. Somtimes you can play 5 or more rounds and it will select the same map and sometimes it does it after 2 rounds.

• Playing it now Its amazing, best gmod zombie mod for sure, good work [editline]6th February 2012[/editline] i have some missing textures in the F2 menu, what can be the reason?
• What textures? Give a picture?
Also there seems to be a bug with random map.
It should be a cycle instead of random. You can also make your own map cycle. Set the convar mapcyclefile to something like "zsmapcycle.txt" and then fill that file with map names. One per line, no .bsp ending. txt file goes in garrysmod base folder.
