It constantly tells you that it's FPP and everything is so far color coded that it almost feels like it expects you to be too dumb to know what a check mark or a cross means. All of the ways it appears to a client seem intrusive and ugly. Sure I'm judging it without even opening a lua file but pretty much single person who uses it will do the same. Assmod currently relies on quite a few ranks existing where they are and a lot of gamemodes do as well. All of the commands check for IsTempAdmin() when seeing if a player has the access to do something. Now if you could customize then something would have to replace this function to simply check if the player is less than or equal to ASS_LVL_TEMPADMIN which equals 3. It's almost asking for trouble when someone will surely delete the Temp Admin rank which is used everywhere. Sure I could script in something to make it check for the lowest admin rank available and compare to that but I'm trying to just bring Assmod into the present for now since a lot of it is somewhat lacking. 4 Admin ranks is quite a few, since I do believe it's possible to permanently set someone as a Temp Admin if you use SetLevel anyways. However what I do think I can do is make it easier for you to script in ranks by dynamically adding ranks to the menus instead of the static method which is used now which really wouldn't be that hard to do. It should be rather trivial to add new ranks to the server although if you do you should remember that the currently applied ranks will have to be adjusted if you wish to add another admin rank above the Temp Admin rank and such.

  • Assmod group customization is simple as hell. It doesn't even require lua knowledge to be able to do it. All you have to do is look at the lua files and be able to copy paste. I used assmod on a server before I even knew what lua was with custom ranks and what not. @camcole, from what I know of you I would say go with Evolve. No explanation needed really.

  • There are 2 things in assmod, that always bugged me. The ban menu. The ban menu in assmod wasn't meant to be used for bans people. The second one was the fact that there was no in-game logging.

  • Slayer, is there any expected release date? I think your plans regarding ASSMod sounds really good, but you seem to be slightly inactive regarding the development of the admin mod.

  • The beta is broken and I haven't made any progress since my last post as I had some other obligations at the time. I don't think I am going to be doing much more to it, I'll probably be releasing it before the beta is over. I'm just going to be focusing on getting anything which is currently in Assmod working to a better ability.

This is an awesome admin tool, I currently use the older version on my server and my admins love it! It looks like the progress you've made thus-far is a great improvement! Congrats! Let's just bring it home now! :)

It's dreadful that it has its own access system while the usergroup remains untouched.

  • [code] Upped API version to 2.3 Changed ASS_TellAdmins to ASS_TellPlayers Changed ChatPrint usage to chat.AddText for colors. Added all of the silkicons to addon. Added any silkicons used to be sent to clients. Prop protection can no longer be exploited to manipulate other's props with the default stools. Prop protection notifications no longer spam you. Explode, Rocket and Respawn added to kill plugin/menu. Added a Cleanup Map option that uses game.CleanUpMap() because it's superior. Defaulted all ASS_isAdmin NWVars on the client to 5 instead of 0. --SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU ARE NOT AN ADMIN Added Settings menu for server settings. Added Plugin call for menu additions for settings. Added client chat notifications of admin actions. Added setting to clear your client's assmod config. (clear ban reasons and stuff) [/code] Got some stuff done today. I'm also somewhat concerned about gatekeeper support as it would have to be maintained. Assmod is meant to stay simplistic, the only thing in it which has ever had a single problem was the menu. According to garrysmod.org I uploaded it about 1200 days ago and with a little work it worked again in the beta. I really don't really care for source's ban system though, I'll have to think about it. Is there any point in this and what actually uses it?

  • Is Assmod still going to have fixed ranks or can we add new ones? Funny, switched to Exsto when it first came out because this started to break, and now exsto is totally broke and this is getting fixed(somehow we managed to run exsto on our server to over a year now with only "minor" issues, don't ask me how.)

  • I'd assume (and hope) that all ranks are still hard-coded in. I've always admired that ASSMod's simplicity, adding an in-game rank editor would just complicate it.
