  • ^^ it works great, except you can't undo what you spawn, I'll keep both duplicators on my server for now.

  • Oh sorry, that's a bug in the latest update I forgot to fix. You can revert to Revision 33 and it will work.

  • This duplicator is absolutely perfect. I had vehicles with engines and transmissions that were lost to dupe- now they work absolutely flawlessly. There's only one major flaw I've come across; it doesn't load parented props correctly. It spawns them as normal props and they fall to the ground. that and massive server lag when selecting contraptions. [editline]6th November 2010[/editline] For now I just save the body of the parented shit with adv dupe and load the running gear with the TB duplicator. can't really do this with anything else but my engine vehicles though.

  • I hate to bump this thread, but I feel compelled to thank the author for what could be one of the best addons a contraption builder could ask for, and also because more people should know about this. I doubt this tool will ever surpass the Advanced Duplicator, but by God we should try, as this surely bests it 100 times over. So TB, I would like to personally thank you from the inner reaches of my heart for this amazing addon. You have truly outdone yourself, given the amazing performance that this addon achieves. I wish you success in your future endeavors, and hope you continue working on this when a bug or two pops up. Thank you again, and have a (US: happy Thanksgiving, UK: Merry Christmas, though I'd be a month early, I don't know what would really correspond with Thanksgiving day).

  • This duplicator needs advertising. It still has bugs in parenting and to my knowledge hasn't been fully tested in multiplayer (leading to A LOT of bugs for all that's known). Multiplayer is where this tool needs extensive testing though.

Then remaking the NCA and duping still left it with NCA off. So I had to individually No-Collide the offending props and dup again. [quote]Revision 31: 10/11/2010 No collide all fixed. Wire panels and Parented bodies with 100+ props I would just dup with the standard A-Dup to save time and since those things don't require the special treatment of TB's. I usually spawn in most large contraptions as a mechanical bit and a parented 300 prop bit anyways so this just guarantees the mechanicals are correct.   • Dude, both of those things are seriously epic. Great job. Also, this tool has completely replaced stupid Adv. Dupe for me. The only downs are the mentioned spawning/save times (on multiplayer servers, it lags like nothing else) and the no-collide-all thing.

  • I have a new issue now. First off it does get to the point where it IS GOING TO CRASH MY SERVER when I copy a contraption. It isn't even super complex.. Maybe 120 props and 400 constraints.. But I and everyone on the server get a full client disconnect freeze for about 6 seconds. Now to the more fun, less fun issue.. When it dups in a contraption you don't own any of the props unless you touch them individually. I had a random grenade tossed into the spawning chassis of my Tatra yesterday and my friend said "I own a bunch of your props, lol" So I took the opportunity to "clean up" his props. Wouldn't you know it a large chunk of my contraption went bye bye. Now on my private server no ones props are deleted automatically and everyone I know is pretty much admin. But should you go into a public server and be legitimately working on a spawned dup and some random minge joins.. hits props of yours with a crowbar and leaves.. Odds are in 3 minutes those props will leave too. Finally, with the no-collide all issue. It came to a point yesterday when spawning a copy of something to test, 4 of the Main props lost their No-collide all and I went back to the frozen original to check and sure enough they were still no-collide all there. BUT when I applied no-collide all AGAIN to the original(expecting them to become coporial again).. they were STILL no-collide all on the original and the next test dup worked fine.. So some issues but still miles better than A-dup. Maybe you should show this to the wiremod team and see if they want to use the code to fix their broke ass duplicator. Obviously only after these issues are sorted but it's the only way I can see to guarantee everyone has it.

  • Hugely[B] disappointing [/B]night. 9pm until 2am I was a building fiend. Saved 8 revisions of the new chassis. Parented everything, tuned everything. Every time I saved I spawned it and did field testing. So all the saves at some point Spawned properly. I finished and changed maps to find that TBdup is now strangely broken. Not sure how but almost none of my dups aren't spawning properly. All with the same issues listed below or just plain not at all. Just ghosts and never starts spawning. If it starts spawning it never stops. No errors. Never finishes. Locks up the tool so I have to rejoin to try again. Just gets 100% of the props in place then just ~40% of the constraints. I mean only 8 out of the 56 Wire Hydraulics spawn in but ALL the controllers are there. Then all the axis and ballsockets from the front end dont occur. Someone please try this and tell me if it works! Went to my server. Downloaded some of the versions.. went to singleplayer and had to upload them to singleplayer? then it gave me an error. ERROR, COULD NOT DECODE FILE! Same thing when I FTP down and up the files. EDIT EDIT Copied the files from the FTP directly to the folder they needed to be on my client. Spawns the same as on the server.. Broken.

  • That error means it didn't save correctly. Something that might be the cause of this, is when you right click to copy your clicking on a prop that is parented. I'm currently working on a new version, so there won't be any updates. But your still welcome to post bugs to make sure it will be fixed in the newer version. All of the bugs mentioned already are fixed in the newer one.

Save.. then paste the already copied ghost without re-opening the save file? IE not loading from the file but directly from the copied original can work and the save fail?

  • Shouldn't fail, but if you did that it would spawn. But had you opened the file it probably wouldn't have spawned.

Will be more cautious tonight and will take A-Dups too just to be sure. Video of some of the testing. Anyone familiar with A-dup will know how hard this is going to fail coming out of there.   • Me along with a friend of mine have experienced what F12 has. Saves can't be decoded. I've found this only happens if the duplication is not spawned before saving, both in multiplayer and singleplayer. It also happens if a duplication is uploaded to a server.

  • Hey TB, you've got a good duplicator here.. The only problem I'm having with it is that when you spawn ANY item or contraption, the props do not automatically become yours. So when I spawn a contraption, the owner is "N/A'. I have to interact with the prop to become it's owner; ie. use the physics gun, gravity gun, or a tool gun. And then it'll say, "You now own this prop". Is there any way around this, a fix, something I have done wrong, or maybe a conflict? [b][EDIT][/b]: I've got it resolved by reinstalling everything on my server.

  • Can't believe I haven't seen this before now. I'll test this out, I've got a project that Adv. Dupe has turned into a jumbled mess on quite a few occasions.

  • I need to do some testing with Advanced Duplicator dupes, or TB duplicator dupes. I'm going to be checking for errors and making sure they work correctly. I don't want a bunch of stupid easy stuff. I need them advanced and complex. If you want to help provide this to ensure future functionality zip up a file containing the dupes( please tell me which duplicator the dupes belong too ), upload them somewhere common(if I don't recognize the link it's not getting clicked on) and post it here in the thread or send me a PM if you don't want it to be all public. Things I'm looking for: advanced constraining, advanced wiring, parenting, and E2 stuff. Thanks.

  • Yes, it's always been worked on(silent development). I started over with a new one. It's getting close to release which is why I need dupes to test with. I've been using gmod.org for dupes but I ran out of good dupes on there.

  • Out of curiosity, there isn't a way for your dup to take Adv Dups and convert them, is there?
