I still want to know how to make those sexy rounded HUD. can you let me know how?
This one is kinda simple. I just use 2 textures for mana and health and rotate them while clipping with ScissorRect:
render.SetScissorRect( size about 50% of hud, true) surface.DrawTexturedRectRotated(......, rotation based on health/mana amount) render.SetScissorRect( size about 50% of hud, false)

May I ask what addon or gamemode is this for?
For my small gamemode "Darkest Days" that I still can't finish :<

Reminds me of Dishonored.
Small hud that I've made few days ago (not that fancy tho):
Damn that looks nice. Where do you find textures like those?

Lment Redux #2 Test video, I would really like ideas for melee effects as I can't use custom animations atm
now comes with a primary fire for when you're aiming at something that zaps the shit out of it and an area attack for when you're not that zaps the shit out of the enemy closest to you within a small radius and heals allies not to mention the fact that i'm using the model from the tf2 promo not once when i started this project several months ago was i anticipating a brutal legend pc release, let alone tf2 promos for it :v:
"Small" thing I'm working on. Sorry for quality of images but photobucket don't want to upload bigger images: [t] http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii113/Frankess/gm_flatgrass0000.jpg[/t] [t]http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii113/Frankess/gm_flatgrass0001.jpg[/t] The way how it works is similar to EVOLVEs plugin system. You only need to know basics of lua to create your own tutorial. I think in next weekend I'll release beta version.
Should make them stored online and let anyone contribute, then it could be really powerful
Agreed, as long as it has spam control, and GOOD filters, It would be cool for Garry to do something like this, and use the workshop...
I had similar idea but I also have one problem: I'm coding since begining of this month so I don't know too well lua. But, during beta I'll share the code and then ask you guys to help me make it better. EDIT: I thought you meant that you want downloadable in-game tutorials. Now I realize that you meant a tutorial database. I plan to do something like this.
Getting back into Gmod Lua after a long time of C#
About the corpse. Maybe turn it into one of the gibs?
Just Photoshop and various brushes.
Wish I knew how :P
Wish I knew how :P
You could just remove the body and spawn gibs with semi-random velocities.
Explained the game movement system http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Lua/Tutorials/Game_Movement
Explained the game movement system http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Lua/Tutorials/Game_Movement
lol starts with explaining stuff then says "or just use the drive system" would be cool if you can make one for the drive system as well
Yeah I will make one for the drive system. The drive system is pretty much the same thing though - it's just a nicer class based way to create new move types. https://github.com/garrynewman/garrysmod/tree/master/garrysmod/lua/drive
Made drag-and-drop equip. It has some bug about disappearing item in specific case but that's not seems so complicated. I'm just happy about It is just working fine. without super glitch and teleporting and excessive lua error spam :D
To whoever this concerns, I saw that the avatar image was broken and decided to make a workaround since I saw that it hadn't been fixed yet. [lua] local DMain = vgui.Create("DFrame") DMain:SetSize(120,120) DMain:MakePopup() DMain:Center() local DHTML = vgui.Create("DHTML",DMain) DHTML:SetSize(100,100) DHTML:SetPos(10,32) local AvatarImages = { ["small"] = {"avatar", ".jpg", 32}, ["medium"] = {"avatarmedium", "_medium.jpg", 64}, ["large"] = {"avatarfull", "_full.jpg", 184} } function GetImage(steamid64,type) if !AvatarImages[type] then return end local divStartName = AvatarImages[type][1] local divStartEnd = AvatarImages[type][2] local apikey = "" --GetKeyFromHere: http://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey local url = "http://api.steampowered.com/ISteamUser/GetPlayerSummaries/v0002/?key="..apikey.."&steamids="..steamid64 http.Fetch(url, function(result, size) if size > 0 then local divStart = string.find(result, divStartName) local divEnd = string.find(result, divStartEnd) if divStart and divEnd then local url = string.sub(result, divStart+divStartName:len()+4, divEnd+divStartEnd:len()-1) local size = AvatarImages[type][3] DMain:SetSize(size+20,size+42) DMain:Center() DHTML:SetSize(size, size) DHTML:OpenURL(url) end end end) end GetImage(LocalPlayer():SteamID64(), "large") [/lua] This is an example of how it can be retrieved. This is how it will look ingame with this example.
Can't you get the material instead? Also don't you have to give away your API key for that? If so that's REALLY bad.
Can't you get the material instead?
Not sure what you mean, but I did it the way I thought would be suitable and it does work. Click on the API link in the code and steam will just give you one for putting in a website name. It works with anyone :)
Should probably add a proxy to keep you API key private.
