  • At Metroid48 2. I like the idea of not knowing an alien until he/she/it:D transforms, but it seems a little unfair. See suggestions below. ~There are ways to find out, such as the needs system. 3. For humans, I do think "have a shower or die" is stupid. Try more things like "the water you drank was poisonous, get treatment". Unique things. ~Everyone knows it doesn't make much sense but it serves it's purpose and adds to the game play. 4. If you actually WANT them to have stupid needs, try stuff like "your teammate hates you, seek therapy". Make it obvious it's a joke. ~I disagree but I can't fight an opinion. 5. For the alien, the idea of how they look at you is interesting. Problem is, he goes behind you, transforms, whoops, you're dead. Not good. Make it so that there is something more than just looks. ~You shouldn't let anyone you aren't sure about behind you, warn them to back off, if they progress shoot. 6. For example, make the alien have needs. However, they should be different from human needs. Things that the humans would never need/want to do. An example, maybe, would be that they need a special "sludge" or toxin to survive. There will be pools of toxins around the place, that hurt people but keep the alien alive. Try things like that. ~Nothing wrong with that but I think it works just as fine without, you can tell they are aliens by their inability to do human needs, they don't need their own. 7. Not sure what you look like when you're an alien, but if it's just a burnt human.... [b]no[/b]. Try using antlions. I think that would be really cool. ~Personally I think antlion would look horible, but I agree that they need their own models. I hope I answered your other points [b]Edit:[/b] Could you offer me linkage to the new entity's and such, like the health and jail. Unless you updated the template, then just tell me that.
  • Create an entity and rename it's class : item_medpack spawn_jail I can now tell you that a new map will be released with th next version. It's an old map I made for dysoptia , it looks better than para spaceship altrough its has'nt been designed for this kind of gameplay.
  • Cool thanks. Para_spaceship didn't make much sense anyway, You could go outside to a grassy area, and it seemed to be only a lot of barren hallways. It wasn't optimized at all either, that is what caused a lot of lag. Not a single func_detail in the whole map. If you want me to help optimize your next map just pm me.   • Para_spaceshipv2b has vis ran in fast mode. para_hastur map is about to released , with the "daily" new version of the gamemode. End of holidays is coming for me , it could be one of the lasts updates before a while.

  • Here's a patchwork of the new map. It is'nt very polished and it's optimisation is not really good but I can't work any longer on mapping so I also uploaded the .vmf if anyone wants to make it better. So the 0.16 is released. With this map and few gameplay fixes. The next sted is to intempt to make a round based system , but I have some problem forcing a player to respawn and reinitialising all the variables of the game won't be enought to have a fully working round system. Since I do not predict a good future for para_hastur , only one map will still be used . I noticed that reloading the same map on the server is quite fast , so as long as there is only one map , there is no real need of a round system.   • Your mapping could do with a bit of "polishing" but overall you have a solid gamemode.
  • The gamemode is awesome, and fun to play. Then... there is the map. It's blocky, it has poorly chosen textures, there isn't a single physics prop in the entire map, the walls are completely barren of any detail, and a lot more. It looks like a map I would make, and I've only been mapping for two days....

  • First of all(Sounds like I want to complain, but don't worry ;)) This sounds pure awesome:It sounds like being in a science-fiction-horror-film with some RP(What is partly a bit silly with the needs,but well, I see your point against campers.) Haven't tried yet, I'm actually on a computer without gmod, but I gotta say Metroids Idea with Alien needs which are completely different to human ones sounds like a very good idea and fits perfectly into the "Science-Fiction-Horror-Film"-Description of mine. "He turned around the corner, it was dark...He held up his flashlight and has seen Frank eating Gregs turd from last night he didn't flush away...." Something like that(That example was a bit dumb,I know) would make the RP part in your concept complete and it would be easier to players to discover Alien hosts(If they haven't just got to have a pee theirself).

Anyway this map is better than no map at all. Remenber it's the first map ever for this. I could make it look better but I don't have the time for that. ETC ETC...   • I'd like to see a bigger Rp Element, as in a map like oviscity. Maybe a Melong "gun" (firing would feed you) and other such disposible items The downside would be the additional weight I love your gamemode, like the time I was heading down the hall (the lights were out and I had a usp) I head gunshots ahead of me followed by a bunch of people running towards me being chased by aliens. Edit: I gotta go take a shi-*dies from not using the bathroom*

The needs system, to keep everyone from sticking together and camping in "the mid" is an excellent idea. I can't play it right now, but I'll definitely download it later. Gold starred!

  • Good gamemode. I like the idea of using antlion models for the parasite. Make it so "q" drops your weapon instead of shift if you can. (it just bugs me) Add sprinting if your weight is in the green and you aren't hungry, tired, etc...(to encourage treating needs quickly) And make the humans' and parasites' hands visible (please?). and add a parasite mapping tutorial with the template, map example, and a readme tutorial thing. (because of the lack of maps) Lua king'd by the way.
  • there needs to be a map remake of the movie the thing now I am loving this I have the thing for ps2 :D. I say there needs to be one constant need sanity talking helps keeping you normal and playing games or reading books will to and sleeping a small bit and if you go insane players can tell and you will have to be put down for good or knocked out.
  • I really enjoyed playing with you the other day, Icky. Travis was the alien when he shouted about me being the alien in those pictures earlier, I shot him then ran away in the dark, hoping not to get mauled. This game is actually creepy in the dark when the aliens turn the lights out and you don't know who is an alien. Also, learn to use the need system to your advantage, it has identified the alien many times.
