•
Why couldn't you just retrofit the current nuke, remove all its' particle effects, and use this effect with that code? Really, tetabonita's old nuke still works fine, code-wise..
Well for one, I don't know anything about coding. For two, I don't think teta's nuke uses the '07 particle system for its effects. And while teta's nuke works, I feel it would be possible to make it work better. Modifying how the shockwave hits objects, having it ignite things when the explosion goes off, stuff like that.

 • Awesome! This would make an excellent swep/entity bomb. It would be *great* if you looked up further on real effects of nuclear weapons to make in the end the best nuke pack ever. Visually, i have only one suggestion. For about 0.5 seconds when it explodes you need a blinding blueish-white flash, even stronger than the fireball itself. Physically, let me assume that you would start from the GBombs nukes. There are a couple improvements you could make. The blast of the shockwave, it's strengh should be inversely proportional to the distance to GZ and fall sharply after impact. This represents the air overpressure. For the fire, you should make everything up to "many fires zone" ignite. But not only that, make it so that anyone within line of sight of the fireball during the first 5 seconds up to the full max radius burst in flames for a time proportional to their proximity to the explosion. This would represent heat and radiation burns. Radiation is something that could be implemented (by i, maybe, if i learn Lua enough) with creativity. Imagine the virus in toolbox, but invisible, lagless, and silent. Only raising your dosimeter untill... death! But more simply you could put an invisible radioactive waste-like entity at ground zero that removes itself after a certain time. Now, as to the bombs themselves, i beg you the following! :P 1) No Sympathetic Detonations, No "shoot at it/drop it hard" detonation. Nuclear weapons are fragile, sophisticated and complicated mechanisms that require perfect (sub microsecond) ignition timing to create a nuclear explosion. You cannot create a nuclear explosion by shooting at a nuke, hitting at it, dropping it from the sky, you name it, unless you go precisely through the firing procedure. It's been done before, and the result is simply an explosion just the strenght of the conventional explosives, no nuclear explosion. So, i mean that you need an Arm and Detonate wiring option as sole and only means of detonating your bomb. I mean, no sane person would have anything else than a dedicated, safe firing circuit for detonating the thing right?? 2) Dial-a-yield. Modern Nukes can be programmed to be more or less efficient for a stronger or weaker nuclear explosion. Wiki: The B61 is a variable yield, kiloton-range weapon called "Full Fuzing Option"(FUFO) or "Dial-a-yield" by many service personnel. Tactical versions (Mods 3, 4, and 10) can be set to 0.3, 1.5, 5, 10, 60, 80, or 170 kiloton explosive yield (depending on version). So, just add a handy little yield value (with a maximum depending on bomb model) in kiloton range that enables you to adjust the strengh of the nuke you are about to fire off. 3) Lots of Models Maybe this is not a priority, but i think your mod would be way more great with handy models. I mean the Czar Bomba of Gbombs (Hydrogen Bomb) is nice and big, but try and put it on a missile! If you did only two models, let they be these: B61 Free-Fall Bomb Typical missile MIRV warhead (that is a cluster of five btw, not a single). It's probably the easiest model to make, ever. Keep up the good work!

 •
lua request section ma' friend.
Already did. Got one artistic rating and nobody replied to it. :saddowns: [editline]8th March 2011[/editline]
*Big post*
Some good ideas here. I was actually thinking about making different yields, it would just mean having to copy and modify my effects to make them larger, which is a bit of a pain, but possible. I don't really like the idea of only having wired detonation for blowing it up though. We want this to be fun, right? And there are a lot more possibilities when detonation is easier. Radiation would probably also just work like the current nukes, damaging players when they get near to ground zero.

 • Well there is easy and "dangerously easy". I would really have it this way, so now there is no risk of an accident wich i never find fun. To be fair maybe it could become sensible once it's armed. On the Yields, maybe you could use a multiplier and work downwards. Anyway, the bombs should have a safe mode that will not explode as a nuke and be sturdy (phx ww2 bomb sturdy), to prevent nuclear chain-reactions...

 •
Physically, let me assume that you would start from the GBombs nukes.
Pretty much everything beyond this coding-wise isn't even worth mentioning. To be perfectly honest, this dude is just late. Artistic, but late. The developer community has changed quite a bit, and while there are plenty of competent coders still hovering about in the community, absolutely none of them release anything worth mentioning anymore. Perhaps if the OP was around maybe three or four years ago (or at least two years ago to be lenient), it would be something to rave about and jump all over. No offense to The Vman. It's just bad timing is all. A lot of old devs are in college now.

 • I want this nuke realistic, if it is then I'll love it. And I recommend making the nuke blinding bright when it goes off, since looking directly at a nuclear explosion will make you go blind. (From what I've read some people went blind after the U.S dropped the bombs on Japan because they had looked directly at the explosion)

It would be possible to simulate retinal burns (jesus christ roflmao), you just imprint the fireball/flash as a dark spot in the vision that dosen't go away until you die! And i mean a huge black hole around where the fireball burned your eyes. That and catching on fire might make people respect nuclear weapons more like they should.

 • This is a really good looking nuke. If everything suggested goes into effect, I shouldn't show this to my friend, or he'll be launching about 10 every 3 minutes.

 • It's very nice, only thing I can see that you need to improve on is more black smoke around the base of the explosion. Other than that I love it.
 • Avatar of The Spie
 • Just a suggestion, but make a second version with the smoke makes a skull similar to the mercenaries 2 trailer

 • Oh god its awesome. Can't wait till it get's released, I want to see that particle system you made :D Good luck and keep up the good work! Also you should keep some glow in the mushroomcloud instead of just fire. Not to much, like Teta's, but a little bit to make the smoke glow a bit.

 • That was awesome. In the Chinese Nuke Video I kept looking at 0:49 over and over. Oh if a game engine could do that....

 • mi wunt nukzzzz No really, I really want this nuke to be finished and working in normal ways! I'll put like 99 of these in a crate of doom! :D

 • I got a guy getting this to replace Teta's nuke particle, so hopefully we'll have the release soon!
