•
I can't tell you how you could do that without it, but all that stuff's just too much math. Gmod is a game which requires alot of creativity, adding logical thinking into a creative game is just wrong. All you people who enjoys logical thinking will surely disagree with me, yes, but Gmod needs less of all the logical stuff, not more.
If it doesn't affect the creative aspect of the game, then why remove it? Last time I checked, the addition of Wiremod didn't severely hinder any other aspect of the game at all. Hmm, yep, all the scripted tools are still there. Props and entities too. Oh, and NPCs are all there as well. So, what exactly has Wiremod taken away from the original game that I might have missed?

 •
Wiremod takes the fun out of building cars and shit and operating them manually. "LOOK AT MY TURRET I MADE WITH WIREMOD" "Hey buddy, I can make a turret without wiremod that I can operate better than yours manually. And it's not ugly as piss."
Yeah, I'd like to see you make a turret that uses only three main props and can nail people in the head from halfway across flatgrass. Some people may not like wire, but in my personal opinion, it makes the construction of good contraptions easier and also simplifies the operation of just about any device. I actually had a class in digital electronics at my high school, so I knew right off the bat how to use the logic gates. The rest was fairly easy to figure out (except for the weird ones like modulus). Yes, I have made my share of engines and turrets, but now I can find ways to eliminate hassle and create an efficient, easy to use contraption. Has WireMod ruined GMod? Of course not. For what I most enjoy using GMod to do, wiremod has been the best thing ever to happen to it.

 • I don't think wire mod ruined gmod but i think that it made it harder and more challenging because i for one sucks at math and wire needs smarts and math smarts and possibly a good amount of iq

 •
Don't build engines, clutches, transmission, gears, turrets, any kinds of turrets, extra precise turrets, followers, following platforms, bots, guns, cannons, and stuff like that, because it has been done already.
So you're saying if something's been done already, you shouldn't build it? Why the fuck not? It's a sandbox game, you do what you want. It doesn't have to be original.

 • It's a gift and a curse, on one hand you have the ability to build something incredible. On the other hand you have "Nick Burns" chastising you for not knowing what your doing, or not being any help at all by saying "move" and doing it for you, so you don't get any thing out of it anyways.

 • Wire actually builds onto other sorts of activities in G-mod. For instance, in my spaceships, I have displays linked up to monitor the coolant, air, etc... I also have an alarm for when my coolant drops below 10,000 it signals it. For one its helpful and makes you look smart, and 2 it's just fucking cool. And as for the ugly ass wire going everywhere, just set the width to 0*. *some side effects may occur

 • I think Wiremod is excellent for gmod, ,but the only down side is that it is so frustrating to get used to.

 • If you guys think Wiremod is hard, you should see WireMod 2. I swear it seems a million times harder. That said, It seems a lot more powerful.

 • I Like wiremod because of what it can do. Have no idea how to use it though, goes straight over my head. *Gets Crushed By A Stream Of Melons* Xenobot
 • Seeing as I haven't heard of Wiremod, I can't say yay, or nay. However, from what I can tell, it can be good and bad, so perhaps everyone could blend wiremod and non-wiremod together, and not use so much of each. Such as using a little of wire in a big contraption using random junk. Someone mentioned Wire and Weld, as though they did the same thing, But Weld sucks, I usually use a combination of Weld and Rope, since weld is like... stretchy glue.

Someone on my build server built that, i asked them where they learned it was from, they said Tricky's Tutorials and then i banned them after i told him that only idiots use the tutorials to build stuff. If you don't have the knowledge to build with wiremod without tutorials, then go rp or something.

 • I've given wire multiple chances but I always end up removing it. The first time I got wire was in the early days when there was no addons for it. I made a race track that measured the time it took to race from A to B. It even remembered the best time. A week or so later wire got booring because it was lacking what I had hoped for most, entity interraction (ent_fire in a more interesting format). Once wire was gone, crashing happened only at the usual 2-3 hour interval instead of every 45 minutes. The 2nd attempt (just recently) was even worse and it got removed the same day it was installed. Wire is a great thing, afterall everything that is being made these days requires or supports wire. The only problem with that could be explained using this example: "You want to download somekind of a explosive SENT, but it seems to require gCombat in order to cause damage. gCombat on the other hand requires wire. Suddenly, that small explosive device requires an additional 600 files to sit in your addons folder in order to work. As the cream on the cake the bomb might also need tiberium (which seems to be the cool word to use for anything in RD) and in order to get that you need the tiberium addon and RD (another 300 files?)." There is no way I would put that on my server. Wire has also raised the bar for what is amazing, which is a nice achievement for wire's author. Only problem with this is that in order to make something that is worth releasing you'll need a team and an idea that Fox will later steal from you and turn into a 9 hours long movie triology. Meaning it is nearly impossible for anyone to create anything that is truly something amazing. I've made my own gCombat, I named it MyCombat, and it has recieved nothing but good feedback. The reason why it hasn't been released is because the first post in the release thread will be a question going something like: "Does it support wire?". The answer to that question should be obvious, and that's when the thread will fall over the edge of the release thread into oblivion. Afterall, everyone expected the bullets to travel along power cables into my cannon didn't they? Keep it simple, that's what I always say.

 • Because of Wiremod I still play Gmod. It gave me something new to do. When I played Gmod 9 we build all the time, because there were nothing else to do. So I think wiremod is an improvement to gmod since I can do something else than building. (Yes, I know there are gamemodes and such) I still build ordinary stuff without wiremod sometimes. The reason I never post it on FP is that I'm kinda sucky at it. I like wiremod more.
 • Wire is the greatest mod of all time. I just fucking love making new things with my friend Eddie. Edit: If I only could do math a little more or atleast understood the English words of Math.

 • I'll admit, Wire is quite nifty and useful and all, but I don't have a lot of use for it. I guess I could make a clock... Or some kind of speedometer for my car... But at the end of the day, it's a pain in the ass to me to have to download shitloads of lua files to join a server with it installed, then find that I don't have any of the models it uses, so contraptions end up swallowed by errors as far as I can tell.
 • Fuck wire-mod it's hard as shit too learn. And if you join a server with wiremod and you don't know how to use or have it you get banned :sigh: i've been banned from countless of servers because wiremod is hard. And people say OHMGZZ UH SUCK AT BUILDING USSEE WIREMEWD UH NEWBB!

 • Hmm it's all of a matter of opinion I suppose. Now I'm curious and hopefully wont get banned permanently for this but I just have to know how long it bans he for.... Sigh I feel like a retard. Stick it in her pooper. Which also used to be a melon brew password, yay. ( INSTABANNED Used the word stick it in her )

 • This is how I look at it. If you don't like Wiremod don't put it in don't just sit there and complan you can ether put it in or not. And plus wiremod is easy its mostly simple math.

 • I'll admit wire mod is amazing but it's way too hard to use. Also since most people use it less and less non-wire things have showed up. A non-wire gcombat would be great even if it didn't have amazing targeting or lock-on. This is hurting the people like me how have absolutly no idea how to use wire.

 • For me, Wiremod is brilliant for 3 reasons: 1. While building a box with wheels was fun for the first few months of Gmod, I now find it boring and seek a bigger challenge. 2. It allows me to create so many more contraptions that wouldn't have been possible without it. 3. I can't make anything decent with regular building so Wire is a good way for me to make impressive contraptions with my logic.

 • Thanks for reviving this old thread. And wiremod is an addon you don't HAVE to download. If a server decides wiremod is a good addition then it's their choice. If you can't live with it go play on another server that doesn't use wiremod and at least don't make threads on facepunch about it.

 • Seriously, I want to build a catapult with the tools that Garry gave me, not some people who make addons. I mean, Garry made the game for the sole purpose of building and creating. The game is fine without WireMod, let alone a lot of other addons.
