• What does Half Life 2 provide (in terms of textures and models etc.) that Half Life 2 Deathmatch doe

  • ^Title. I know that Half Life 2 provides the model for the fast zombie torso, and zombine, but that's pretty much it. I occasionally see the classic pink and black checkers in some servers and on some sweps or snpcs I get, so I need to know, just to... know. Also, is there a way of getting all the textures reccomended for Gmod, but also by not buying Half Life 2, or any other game?

  • You can download the textures and models and such off the internet, however that is considered warez I think

  • It provides the HL2 maps and that's all as far as I know. For the pink and black textures, you need a different game to fix those (hl2ep2, css, tf2, etc.)

  • According to the GCFs, HL2 comes with the HL2 Singleplayer maps and with .VCD files for all the dialogue between characters

  • The Half-Life 2 content (meaning models, materials, and sounds) are included with any Source engine game; this includes Garry's Mod. This is because they are included in the Source GCFs (source models.gcf, source materials.gcf, source sounds.gcf). Half-Life 2's GCF (half-life 2 content.gcf) contains maps from the game and 'scenes' (lipsync and animation data for dialogue). Half-Life 2: Deathmatch's GCF (half-life 2 deathmatch.gcf) contains player models, weapon models and animations, as well as some game-specific materials and sounds. So to answer the question directly, Half-Life 2 provides nothing more than maps and scenes, because Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, being a Source game, already has the Half-Life 2 content bundled. EDIT: Oh yeah, and I think the zombine and fast zombie torso models are included in the Episode 1 and 2 files, not the original Half-Life 2 files.

  • HL2 DM doesn't have playermodels, but comes with animations [I]meant[/I] for being used with playermodels (The Metrocop even has his "ss" animations cleared out to prevent them from being left over and unused. The weapon models are mostly for world view so that players have the guns attached to their hands
