• so just respawn the vehicle, who cares visclip saves dozens and dozens of props that not only RSO but drop framerate

 • visclip still does lag the fps some. It's great for stuff like tanks and cars. Must fix adv dupe 2 weight thing, that way I can post my wip

 •
I rarely really use visclip due to how it functions. It's a neat tool but it seems a bit iffy and I'd probably only use it for singleplayer stuff. Mainly considering that if you join after visclip was applied, then you wouldn't see them. [editline]edit[/editline] though the currently 80 props would probably only be 40 or so with visclip, which does make me want to use it.
Visclip could most certainly be more effective... however I do not like the way you have to get the angle 100% correct and then the length....

I never really used visclip until I learned to do that.

 • Visclip could be much better if there were an option to refresh clientside all clips (for example when for ppl who just connected to server). From what i found whole tool is based on umsg so i shouldn't be so hard... at least I think so.

 • Current wip: Small offroad SUV Status: Drives fine, just needs some details. Controls, more color/texture work, gauges, wiring the headlights into the joystick, that sort of thing. I also need to adjust the transmission a bit, it has a habit of kicking into first gear when reversing if the RPMs hit the normal shift point, and the fifth gear ratio is so close to fourth you almost can't even tell it's shifted into it. Specs: Engine: 3.1L Diesel Inline 4 Transmission: 5-speed automatic transaxle mounted in the back, with reverse. Driver can override clutch and gear. Drive: Four wheel, ACF gearbox connects to the rear wheels and advanced ballsockets send power to the front. Brakes: Provided through the ACF gearbox. Stopping distance is exceptional, top speed to not moving in two carlengths or so. Suspension: Live axle front and rear, hydraulic steering on front axle. Seating: Driver, three passengers Curb weight: 6100LBs Tow capacity: 8500LBs on two wheel trailer. Four wheel trailer may allow even more weight to be towed, as the vehicle is unable to control a trailer above 8500LBs. Cargo capacity: A couple of suitcases at the most Moveable bodywork: Hood opens via hydraulics, button on dashboard controls it. Lag level: Low. My rig sucks balls and I get great FPS driving it around. Control method: xBox 360 pad. •
7.62mm wat
Build2Kill. AK47 is basically a 7.62 clip feed machinegun SWEP with ~6mm pen. Armor of 8mm stops it nicely.

 • My first attempt at an autoloader, 75 props. The turret will pitch around that grey bar.

Clip: Magazine: Basically, clips are used for quickly re-loading magazines, mostly those that are integral to the guns and unremovable, such as early bolt-action rifles or something like an SKS. Magazine is the thing from which the gun actually feeds the cartridges. It may be removable, but doesn't have to be. Learn the damn difference.

 • Guys, how do you make the tank turrets move around? That's the only thing about making tanks that I don't understand.

Of course they only had 90 degrees of travel. Other times I fix the gun to the chassis and spin the whole vehicle instead of just a turret. But I'm no good at E2s :v:

To make a proper E2 however require some basic Wire and programing knowledge.
Other times I fix the gun to the chassis and spin the whole vehicle instead
How do you manage to hit anything past 200m this way? Edit: Found prototype with this control type, but I abandoned it because it had too many draw backs. •
How do you manage to hit anything past 200m this way?
I usually weld a ranger to the barrel with the beam visible, about 30-50 units long, to serve as a sight. Couple that with four figure muzzle velocities that give you more or less laser straight flights and I never have trouble hitting anything. It doesn't really matter if you spin the turret or the entire vehicle with the way I set the ammo up. I do still have pitch control though, but as I said I rarely need it with the muzzle velocities I tend to use. Probably also helps that I'm using 203mm howitzers loaded with HE shells most of the time. Honestly though I don't do much combat. I only put the guns on because I like to make things go boom, and what better way to dispose of a spazzy contraption than a 203mm howitzer shell from halfway across the map?

 •
Looking pretty nice. You think we could have a shot from the front again though? Also I progressed a bit on my Mustang. It's a bit prop messy at the moment because I just want to get an overview of it at the moment. God I need to fix the front.
What tool are you using to put all these props together without massive lag? I haven't played in awhile and it seems I have missed some awesome tool

 • ...y'all could just, like, use a freely available aim E2, and if you don't like using other people's stuff learn from it, dissect how it works, and make your own. Just, throwin' it out there...or yea you can use thrusters and hydraulics...

 • I have been currently working on my first tank. it's about 1/8 of it's completion (but hey, this is a WIP thread, right?). Yeah, so here it is. it has a machine gun, which is not shown. as you can see, the wheels are not equal. I mean the other ones are heavier than the other side. also, I have been working with this all terrain vehicle (just in case the tank one is destroyed and will leave me broken hearted in pieces). if you're asking what's up with the red button, it's for toggling the lights, cause this laptop doesnt have the number pad enter. if I press enter, nothing works, so I just had to emulate it. here's the toggled lights: Somehow, inside my head, I like the ATV more than the tank.. (sorry tank, I have been very unfaithful) [editline]4th June 2012[/editline] also, the smooth-bore of the tank is bent. [editline]4th June 2012[/editline] I don't know why the second picture is not loading for me, but I think it's because of the speed of my internet connection

 •
Looks like that tank has a very... floppy barrel.
LoL.... I don't know, but I think I'd have to rebuild the whole turret and cannon.
 • Avatar of Uzkanda
 • For tank combat ACF (armored combat framework) is used, and your gun looks like prop cannon or something. For how to install and use: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1132792
 • I tried to make a gyro turret using thrusters and the delta tool. Works but it's very sensitive and pretty floppy. Useless when you are moving. Would anyone care to link me to a freely usable turret/barrel applyforce/applytorque E2 code? I just can't get the hang of it without seeing it in action. That way I can learn from it. Edit : Nevermind, found out some info on how to do it :D
