Hi, So every where I go, the cheap servers are not in the US, and when they are, their expensive. Im with nitrous-networks. I do not like linux. I just dont. And NFO was expensive. What is a cheap server that hosts on windows, is cheap, and has servers inside US
What is your definition of "cheap"? You get what you pay for...
AT LEAST 30 slots for about $20
For that price you should get yourself a VPS or a dedi.
If this is a KVM VPS then absolutely. For OpenVZ avoid like the plague for SRCDS hosting unless you like being on massively oversold nodes. Dedicated servers still cost quite a bit more then what the OP is aiming for unless you want to go with a serious budget provider like VolumeDrive. You say NFO is too expensive, but they do have a plan for $20 a month with Windows if you don't mind setting your server up yourself.
Two full, dedicated HT CPU cores (Nehalem or better) 2048 MB of RAM 200 GB of RAID-protected storage 8000 GB of bandwidth transfer
Should be fine for a Gmod server.
Just did a VPS and works like a charm. 25 slots all for $20. Thanks for the input!
Just to state here SRCDS, specially for gmod, runs much better on Linux builds. Ever since they fixed a few eternal damn bugs on it a while ago, such as the welds causing lag etc (talking years ago now) it's been exceptional for hosting. Get used to Linux, you get so much more out of your resources. We're not just talking "But no GUI means less overhead!", I've not tested this since DarkRP 2.4.x was the main build but for running DarkRP and TTT back then you'd get a good 20% more players/activity with the same CPU usage. And if you're really on a budget this counts, greatly.
