Final verdict: the turret naming does not appear to be bugged, but it might be that the name isn't saved if your GMod crashed. It saves locally in client convar "_iw_turretnickname".

Hmmm, he should be a bit more aggressive. When I spawn a rex, he just stands there until I get with a few meters range of him. That thing should act like a ant guard: charge in on its nearest target right away. If there's no target, he should just wander around or something.
