GMod Update 156

 UPDATE: I’ve asked Valve to roll this update back. It is suffering from a few problems. Workshop maps are all purple. Linux servers have glibc version issues. Addons aren’t listing their contents properly. Observing players in TTT makes them invisible(!!?). Sorry guys, hopefully we will get it working properly next time around.

It’s been quite a long time since the last update.. we’ve been busy setting up the new office. So… hopefully this will go smoothly!

The update has been sent to Valve but may not yet be live. Servers will need to be restarted before you can join (it will show a protocol error if you try to join an out of date server).

Optimized player models

LOD optimizations similar to Valve’s in Team Fortress 2 were added onto almost all existing player models; this should help give a noticeable performance boost in multiplayer, especially in servers with high player counts.

Fixed Resume Game breaking HUD

For some stupid reason pressing Resume Game on the main menu would end up breaking the HUD. Your weapon selection and chat elements would stop showing up. And sometimes it would lock you in-game - unable to return to the main menu.

New player models & colorability enhancements

Four new player models have been added (group02). The textures for Gman and the citizens (group01) were also redone, making them much less dull as well as not turning yourself into a blob of color if you go completely black.

Fixed multiplayer options

I got an email from someone telling me that the game had been ‘rendered unplayable’ for him - because he couldn’t change his spray paint image. He will be glad to know that he can now continue playing the game.
